Rayburn Cleaning
Stanley Cleaning

I am fully trained, equipped and experienced to thoroughly deep clean your standard 2 oven Rayburn or standard 2 oven ‘Rayburn style’, enamelled Stanley cast iron range cooker such as the Brandon, Comeragh or Donard to a professional and exacting standard.

Rayburn cleaning and Stanley cleaning requires a different process and technique compared to normal oven cleaning. The techniques employed are similar to those that are used in AGA cleaning. Attention to detail and patience is paramount as the clean, if it is done thoroughly, will always be intricate and fiddly.

Any shelves or racks will be soaked in my specialist dip tank to remove any grease, grime and burnt-on carbon deposits.

I use specialist, environmentally friendly, non-caustic, non-toxic, vitreous enamel safe cleaning products. You must never use "off the shelf" caustic oven cleaners on your cast iron range cooker as this could result in some disastrous results.

The most difficult part of cleaning a Rayburn or Stanley are the panels on the back of the doors, the vitreous enamelled top plate & front plate and the external surfaces of the lids. All these sections take time to deep clean properly, so please be patient.

After a detailed clean the lids, vitreous enamel top plate, front plate and all other external parts
of the Rayburn or Stanley polish up beautifully, transforming it back to its former glory.
The ovens are cleaned, wire brushed then swept out.

As an extra service, and included in the price of your Rayburn or Stanley deep clean, I will thoroughly and properly degrease, clean and polish the area around your Rayburn or Stanley. This includes (if you have them) your splashback and vitreous enamelled flue pipe. I do these chargeable services for free as a complimentary goodwill gesture as I am aware these areas are often overlooked during normal, everyday cleaning & cleaning them (especially the fluepipe) in conjunction with your Rayburn or Stanley deep clean is an excellent way of accentuating the natural shine of the enamel on your freshly cleaned, cast iron range cooker.

Your Rayburn or Stanley needs to be turned off the night before I clean it, so it is cold on the morning of the clean. If there is any residual heat in your range when I arrive in the morning this will not be a problem.

A standard 2 oven Rayburn or 2 oven Stanley is slightly smaller than a 2 oven AGA with less areas to clean. Other areas, like the lid liners on these ranges, are also easier to clean than the AGA as they are enamel. For this reason the price for a full detailed, deep clean of a Rayburn or Stanley is slightly cheaper than that of an AGA.

A standard 2 oven Stanley is slightly larger than a standard 2 oven Rayburn. The cleaning of this additional size is compensated for though as the Stanley has easier to clean, enamel inner door panels. Some newer generation Rayburn cookers, like the XT Cookmaster series, also have enamel inner door panels but, like the Stanley, they are also a slightly larger model to clean.
The only Rayburn appliance ever built with 4 ovens is the Rayburn Model No. 40. This Rayburn was marketed in the early 1950s with a few companies now restoring, reconditioning and refurbishing them. I’m sure some originals are still around too. The Rayburn 40 is quite rare with only 400 ever manufactured. With the exception of this model, prices for a Rayburn clean or Stanley clean are based on the standard 2 oven models.

Which parts of my appliance will be cleaned

• The Rayburn/ Stanley top plate and front plate

• The internal and external surfaces of the lids

• Remove doors of Rayburn to facilitate cleaning inside the oven, Stanley doors are not removed

• Degrease, clean and polish the inner & outer surfaces of the doors

• Racks and trays cleaned in the solution tank on the van
